SARS Tax Invoice Template (South Africa)
What makes a tax invoice valid in South Africa?
For SARS to accept a tax invoice, it must contain specific details set out in section 20 of the VAT Act — the words 'tax invoice', your name, address and VAT number, the customer's details, a serial number, the date, and a description, quantity and value of what was supplied.
Get a field wrong and your customer can't claim the input VAT — and you may have a compliance problem of your own. If you're not VAT-registered, you must not issue a 'tax invoice' at all.
FoundersDesk generates a SARS-compliant invoice template that adjusts automatically to whether you're VAT-registered, pre-filled with your company details.
